Cold Regeneration

Холодная регенерация

Cold Regeneration

This technique was developed in USA in late 1950s. The technique of cold regeneration comprises the following operations: ripping of the layers of the asphalt concrete road coating down to the depth of 38 cm with inclusion of some of the road foundation (full-depth regeneration); if necessary, some quantity of mineral powder and/or binding material is added; then the material is grinded, mixed and placed evenly upon the roadway and subsequently consolidated by rollers. As a result, the road gets better foundation, free of stress, which is coated by new asphalt layers. This technique is rather attractive economically – you don’t have to take away old material off the road and bring new one.

This technology JSC “Road Service of the Republic of Tatarstan” implemented into its practice in 2002. Later JSC “Tatavtodor” wider used it and at present three Caterpillar RM-350B/500B cold recycling technological complexes are actively operated for the road building in the Republic.
